Hope you are all well. Things have been going well here. The pen side of things is getting busier but it has still been such a hard year for everyone. Not a day goes by when I don’t hear about friends in the business of pens worrying about things. So I have been thinking on different ways to help not just me but the community as well.
Materialistic videos
One thing which people are always concerned about when it comes to pens is the way that the pen blanks look different in their raw state then they do when turned into pens. So how can I help with that? I have bought pen blanks from a bunch of people; Fountaintelling, Brooks Blanks, Enigma, Turnt, Mad Science Pen company, and Bob Dupras among others. And I am doing a series of videos on youtube where I make the same design of pen out of each one and analyse the blanks how they look, the style of them etc. Each blank maker was given the same instruction, a blank containing an opaque green, a translucent green and a white, quantities and other properties of the 3 pigments was up to each maker. This should help explain a few things to the public. What different makers styles are like, what to look for on the outside of the blank if you want a certain look on the inside, the different colour choices each blank makers prefer. It has been really fun and once this first batch is done I will be looking for other blank makers for a ‘series 2’ where i may choose a different colour scheme. New Service available and live Twitch content
I have started to stream my pen making on the streaming platform Twitch. If you didn’t know, that platform is predominantly for gaming streams but has a healthy arts and crafts community. One of the most popular streams a few years ago was the broadcasting of old Bob Ross episodes. Anyway, as I said I have started to broadcast live footage from the workshop when I am making pens. I do this on Wednesdays 1:30pm ish until 4-5pmish , Thursdays 1:30pm ish until 4-5pmish and Fridays 1pm ish until 4-5pm ish uk times. The streams are very chilled and conversation ranges quite a lot. Feel free to come along and chat about anything, it helps keep me out of trouble. You can find the channel here:
This leads me nicely on to a new service I am offering. If you order a custom pen from me, we can meet up on the above linked channel and I can make your pen for you live. You can offer feedback on the making of it, which parts of the pen blank you want used for what. I can offer advice on the design and what not. It’s worked well so far.

It’s so nice to hear from you and I’m glad to hear – not at ALL surprised, mind you – that your business is doing so well! I never had any doubts about your talent, ability and tenaciousness to design and produce beautiful and functional pens, but for a while, I was concerned that the pandemic might throw you a bad curve. So glad to see that’s not been the case! I’m still using the lovely pens you made for me and have sent a couple people who were looking for “something different” your way. Your designs really do set you apart from other pen makers. You should be very proud of your accomplishments and all the lessons you’ve learned along the way in such a relatively short time. I hope you, your wife and girls are doing well. I’m looking forward to hitting your YT channel in the next couple of days. It sounds really fascinating!
